The Vinyl Listening Party: Crowd Sourced Trivia Edition
Sunday, March 10th, from 1PM to 6PM, come to Maker North for the Vinyl Listening Party.
What is a Vinyl Listening Party?
People are invited to come bring some of their vinyl music collection out to Maker North, where they can sell, buy, trade, give, receive and yes, even PLAY their records.
No problem, come anyway. It's a free, all-ages event, and local vinyl vendors curate a special crate of goodies for sale at 20% off the sticker price for the night of the event only. Guaranteed to find something you didn't even know you were looking for. This edition of the Party will include crowd-sourced trivia games and prize giveaways. People bringing music to play are invited to come up with a multiple-choice or true/false question to accompany their vinyl selection. The question can be about the band/artist, a song, the album, or any other piece of music trivia relating to the selection, and all party-goers are invited to participate. There will be giveaways throughout the event for people who are playing.

Join Patricia Pulcine and Lindsay Pugh for an evening of live jazz at The Whisky Barrel.
Born ages ago on a wooden bench in the Station Mall, this long-time friendship and musical partnership brings you a variety of jazz guitar and vocal favourites, from delightful, uptempo swing, to cool Brazilian beats, and even a few blue ballads.
Between them, Patricia and Lindsay have far many more years of performance experience than either of them are willing to admit, but both are excited to share their love of music and the happiness of a good beat.
Born in Windsor, Ontario, and currently based in Essex County, Max Marshall has performed publicly since childhood and in live music venues since the age of 14, and has grown into a passion for stories from the vast palate of the Canadian folk identity. Marshall has chosen finger style acoustic guitar as his medium with a preference for folk/country blues/ragtime as his true musical purpose. In a performance that extends from soft introspection to frenzied, bluesy, interpretations, Max Marshall gives audiences a heartfelt, personal performance, featuring a guitar style that is largely underexposed.
With years of extensive touring in Canada and the UK, his day job has been left behind and this proud father of two has an album release, cross Canada tour, summer festivals as well as extensive European and U.K. tours to keep him busy in 2019.

Enjoy a FREE cultural celebration at Algoma University! As part of the 2019 Fishbowl Festival - come "meet and greet" with the dancers from Wind Horse, enjoy some traditional food and cultural presentations. This is a family friendly event and open to the public.
Wind Horse Dance Company consists of nine passionate dancers from the grasslands and deserts of Inner Mongolia, specializing in both traditional and also contemporary folk dance. Their acts draw inspiration from the roots of their nomadic heritage - steps resembling a horse’s leisurely gallop, the strength and agility of the revered wolf, the fluidity of the vast, open grasslands and the joyful, warm embrace of Mongolian hospitality. As communities change and contemporize, traditions and stories can be lost - Wind Horse combines the "new and the old" as young dancers showcase years of practice and training to sharing their stories with audiences unfamiliar with Mongolian culture
"Wind Horse" will be at the Sault Community Theatre on February 28th! Tickets are available at the Station Mall box office for $25 adult and $15 child.
Join Maria Parrella-ilaria, MA, visual artist/art therapist and Lisa Meschino PhD, community-engaged artist/researcher for a drop-in ArtSpeaks’ Art Hive at Shabby Motley!
Admission is free, donations appreciated.
Art Hives are as individualistic as the communities they serve. The basic premise is that an art hive is a safe space for communication through creativity—communication with the self and others. It offers the opportunity for self-directed creative and artistic inquiry, arts-based research and skills-building. While an art hive session might offer themes/topics for exploration, there is no structured direction from an arts educator. Instead participants are encouraged to experiment with methods and materials, to learn from other participants and to work communally in the presence of other creatives. Art Hives are supervised by art therapists and staffed by two or more professional artists/community-engaged artists. Participants may come and go as needed during the session time and session size is only limited to the number of people the studio can hold at any one time.
